Three Days Above the Clouds
Three days is enough to learn the rhythm of a mountain. Here is one way to spend them — loosely held.
Day one — arrive
Arrive in the afternoon and do very little. Walk the path behind the villas, find the bench that looks down the valley, and let the altitude slow you down.
Dinner is by the fire: something braised, bread, a glass of something red. Bed early.
Day two — walk
Leave early, while the cloud still fills the valley below. A guide takes you up an old shepherds' path to a high meadow, where lunch is laid out on a blanket.
Above the cloud line, the world below disappears. Only the next ridge remains.
Day three — stay in
Spend the last day indoors on purpose. A long bath, a book by the window, and a final dinner at the chef's table before the drive down.
